That the sincere condolences of Kingston City Council be extended to the family, friends, and millions of global fans of Peter Cullen, who passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. Born in Montreal, Peter was a legendary Canadian voice actor whose iconic voice defined generations of popular culture. Kingston holds a special connection to his early life, as he attended and graduated from Regiopolis-Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School. Over a brilliant career spanning more than half a century, Peter lent his extraordinary vocal talents to numerous beloved characters, most famously serving as the definitive, heroic voice of Optimus Prime in the Transformers franchise. He also brought immense joy to audiences as the voice of Eeyore in Winnie the Pooh and Monterey Jack in Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers. His kindness, humility, and profound generosity toward his fans will always be remembered. Our thoughts are with Peter’s loved ones and his global community of admirers during this difficult time.
